Sephora Haul

9/08/2019

Hey everyone! This is more of a recent haul so it looks like a very small haul because it only features two items. Most of my Sephora Haul (I didn’t participate in the sale) has already been included in my ‘Glittery Summery Make Up Tutorial.’ You can check it out [ here ].

+ Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter - Ray of Light $30

I honestly bought these two items because of the packaging. I wasn’t really expecting the most amazing formula in the world but I did get a hit with one of the items. Also heads up, I’m sorry I didn’t include any swatches in this post. I tried to swatch it last night, but it would not pick up on my hands on arms at all. But I promise that although this product was not designed to be swatched, it looks divine on the skin, on your face, and I can’t rave about it enough.

The first item is the Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighter in Ray of Light. I love love love the packaging on this one. It makes me feel like Sailor Moon transforming every time I open it up. I know that even before I hit pan with this (I’m sad, I’m already wearing away the TF initials), I’m going to buy another one and not touch it. I’m just gonna buy it, just to look at it. That’s how pretty it is.

And what I really love about this product, is that I had no idea that the formula and color and pigmentation was super amazing. I thought it was going to be a really bad one and that Too Faced decided to invest in the packaging instead. And that’s where I was wrong. I was completely blown away by how much I love how it looked on my face.

First of all, I really love the color on this one. It’s a pale champagne-y pink with hints of peach gold. Pale pink never works on my skin! It always translates as silver or lilac. When I used the Naked 3 palette as my very first eyeshadow palette, I was very disappointed that it wasn’t compatible with my olive undertone skin.

But this product, oh my god. It translates exactly as pale pink. Just like it does in the pan. That made it an immediate holy grail. I was thrilled! I’m making an A/W 2019 look, and I think you’ll be able to see more of what I’m talking about. How I apply this is with my right pinky, and I just place it right underneath where my iris sits on the lower lid. And it looks like silk!
And it looks so subtle yet it looks very heavy at the same time. By heavy, I mean you can see how smooth and uniformed the application was. It makes my eyes look 100 bajillion times brighter and neutralize my dark circles. I was so impressed. I have tried a lot of glitters and shimmers in this area and none of them have pulled off this kind of level of perfection. And this product still maintains that neutral look that I like so much. It’s very rare that a pale pink highlighter or eyeshadow for that matter, to do it for me, just right.

My make up looks so complete and put together, I almost always want to run out of the door right away, and skip the cheeks, mascara, and the brown liner I put in the lower lid. Those last three steps in my beauty routine is what always made me feel put together/reassurance that I did my make up right, but with this one product, it kind of made me forget about those steps.

I’m very happy and pleased with this highlighter. I am thoroughly, thoroughly impressed. And I’m not sorry, I had to keep repeating that c: Do you guys already have this in your collection? I’m really late to the party. I know it’s been around for a while, but it’s new to me. And I’m very glad, I decided to pick it up and give it a try.

Verdict: 5/5 bunnies

+ Too Faced Natural Lust Satin Bronzer $34

It goes without saying that I also bought this product for the packaging. I saw this in AshlyKlaty’s review of her Sephora haul, and I was so stunned when she held it up. I picked it up right away after watching her video. I loved the peacock design. Reminded me so much Hera. Became a must have immediately.

I tried the formula. I wasn’t that impressed with it. I still prefer my mini Fenty bronzer by Rhianna. Whenever I use that bronzer, I always feel like I’m doing bronzing right. With the Too Faced one, not so much.

The fragrance with beauty products almost always bothers me. And it’s always an issue. But not with this one. The coconut scent is very mild, and it smells like baby powder as well, so it doesn’t bother me at all. Which is great.

Again, I also like opening and closing this bronzer/highlighter combo lol. I love looking at it. I love how pretty it is. Also, one more thing is that it’s very very big. I also quite like that.

And I  plan on not hitting pan with this product as well lol. Like I’m very careful when I dip my brush or finger in it. I try not to erase the impression as much as I can. So I’m sort of glad that, I didn’t like the formula as much.

As for the highlighter, I didn’t really get wowed by it. I didn’t see it at all on my cheeks. I prefer my Kaja one in Luna a lot more. But that being said, the formula wasn’t really something I was after when it came to the deciding factor of whether or not I wanted to pick up this product or not.

Verdict: 4/5 bunnies

Please note that in my very early reviews I have used bunnies as a replacement for the star rating system. It doesn’t denote that a product is vegan or clean. I just like cute bunnies c:

  1. I've got three of Too Faced's liquid lipsticks, and an eyeshadow palette but I haven't tried any of their face and from what you've said, I might give their face products a try!

  2. I haven't tried any of Too Faced's products but I'm really tempted to! I wish there was a Sephora over here in the UK but nope. I did get the chance to visit a store when I was over in LA and it was the best!

    1. Hi Daisy! Whoa I didn't know Sephora wasn't available in the UK. I thought they were everywhere. I'm glad you got to visit one while you were in LA :) xx London is in my list of places to travel to and if I ever visit, I can't wait to go inside Selfridges because we don't have one here in the US 🙈 And I really like that show Mr. Selfridges with Jeremy Piven! 😍

    1. Hi Susan! Saaaame. I really wanted to wait until the holidays/birthday month so I can at least get double Sephora Insider points but I couldn't wait. The temptation is real lol. Also, I'm always scared of it running out of stock. Especially, since Too Faced is well known for their limited edition items that they rarely bring back ; o ; ! So I just decided to grab it before they discontinue it / decide they don't want it in their permanent line.
